Revolutionizing Recruitment Efficiency and Matchmaking in Hospitality and Retail Industries
Revolutionizing Recruitment Efficiency and Matchmaking in Hospitality and Retail Industries
Oct 23, 2016
PROBLEM
Currently, the recruitment process is inefficient and random, leading to wasted time on interviewing unsuitable candidates. Only 2 out of 10 candidates are worth considering for interviews. CVs come from various sources such as job provider websites, emails from job seekers, window advertisements, Gumtree ads, and general job boards. The lack of targeted recruitment platforms results in a significant disconnect between job seekers and recruiters, leading to inefficiencies and poor matches in the recruitment process.
PROPOSED SOLUTION
The solution is a recruitment platform that focuses on connections and screening to enhance efficiencies and remove the randomness from recruitment. Key features include a Tinder-like interface for quick candidate checks, availability on web, Android, and iOS platforms, a 30-second video pitch for job seekers to showcase their skills, and essential information for quick decision-making. The platform enables job seekers to apply and recruiters to search, review, and offer interviews efficiently. Full details are only released when both parties express interest in connecting, eliminating the need for rewriting ads and pitches. The platform aims to cater to the Hospitality and Retail sectors under the £20/hr. market due to their significant job markets in the UK, high turnover rates, and being underserved by traditional recruiters. With the high smartphone penetration in this job seeker segment, the platform aims to match 8 out of 10 interviewees with suitable roles.

THE WORK -
Research: The UX design process begins with thorough research on the current recruitment challenges and user expectations. User testing and expert reviews help in understanding the user perspectives and expectations from the app. Factors like target audience, branding, features, and ease of use are crucial in shaping the design process.
Ideation: Ideas were conceptualized to prioritize user needs and elevate the website's usability. From revamping the landing page with property galleries to introducing smarter search functionalities and filtering options, the ideation phase aimed to create a more visually appealing and user-friendly platform. Incorporating user-centric features like account creation, advanced search parameters, and live chat support enriched the overall user experience.

Design: The design phase encompasses the visual and interactive design of the platform, incorporating elements like the Tinder-like interface, video pitches, search functions, and connection mechanisms. The design should prioritize user-friendly layouts, intuitive navigation, and a seamless user experience across web and mobile platforms.
Collaboration with Developers: Collaborating with developers is essential to translate the design concepts into a functional and technically feasible product. Close communication and iterative feedback loops between designers and developers ensure that the design vision is effectively implemented while considering technical constraints and optimizations.
Validation: The validation step involves testing the developed platform with real users to gather feedback on usability, functionality, and overall user satisfaction. User testing helps in identifying any usability issues, refining the user experience, and ensuring that the platform meets user needs and expectations.
Overall, by following a comprehensive UX design process, incorporating user insights, and addressing key pain points in the recruitment process, the proposed recruitment platform can deliver a seamless and efficient user experience for both job seekers and recruiters, ultimately achieving the goal of improving recruitment outcomes.
