Inspection App
This project focused on creating a mobile application to streamline vendor management for asset managers, particularly those overseeing single-family rental properties. The app was designed to help contractors and vendors conduct property inspections, calculate costs, and efficiently manage materials, integrating seamlessly with existing systems for data-driven decision-making.

CHALLENGE
The asset management team at Sylvan Road Capital faced inefficiencies in vendor coordination for property inspections: manual entry, disparate data systems (RealAUM and vNext), and inconsistent cost tracking hindered project timelines and accuracy. The task was to develop a mobile app that could streamline inspections, consolidate material and cost data, and integrate in real-time with legacy platforms—all while remaining intuitive and user-friendly for both contractors and asset managers.
Design
Through in-depth stakeholder interviews and workflow observations, user needs were fleshed out and prioritized. Wireframes and interactive prototypes were built in Figma, featuring quick-access cost calculators, streamlined data entry, and real-time integration points. Iterative usability testing refined the interface, ensuring complex workflows felt intuitive and tasks could be completed efficiently on mobile—despite underlying system complexity.
development
A robust frontend-to-backend architecture was designed to enable secure, real-time data flow between the app and existing systems. Real-time touchpoints were defined, data syncing optimized, and the performance fine-tuned for mobile use across field conditions. Collaboration with developers included guiding documentation, component handoff, and QA checkpoints to ensure design integrity from concept to deployed app.
takeaway
The final mobile tool enhanced vendor management significantly—reducing manual effort, accelerating inspection timelines, and improving cost accuracy. Asset managers were able to make faster decisions thanks to unified data access and intuitive workflows. This project reaffirmed how thoughtful, mobile-first UX design—backed by strategic system integration—can transform operational efficiency in asset-heavy environments.
